The outfit is clean, folded and ready for the next change. Before you dress your baby, one calm look along the opening can help you notice whether the garment is still in the condition you expect.
This is not a home safety test, and it does not replace the product evidence behind the finished garment. It is a simple condition check: look at the fabric, follow the closure and know when a piece should be set aside.
Start with the whole front opening
Lay the garment flat and open the front so you can see the full fastening path. Soso Snaps uses hidden magnetic closure points along this opening. “Hidden” describes the design; it does not mean the area should disappear from normal garment care.
Look from the neckline to the end of the opening. The fabric should sit as intended, without a tear, open seam or visibly damaged section around the closure. You do not need to pull hard, use a tool or try to expose the magnets. A gentle visual check is enough.
Close it slowly and follow the matching points
Bring the two sides together as you normally would. Magnetic attraction helps the corresponding points meet, but you still guide the fabric and check the finished closure.
Ask three straightforward questions:
- Do the matching points meet where you expect them to?
- Does the fabric around the opening look intact?
- Is every closure point covered, with nothing loose, exposed or missing?
If something looks or feels different from the garment’s normal condition, stop there. Do not keep fastening and unfastening it to “test” the problem.
Check the closure again after dressing
Once the garment is on, look along the front one more time. Make sure the fabric is arranged properly, the opening is fully closed and the fit follows the guidance for that exact piece.
The practical benefit of a magnetic opening is the fastening motion: bring matching points together, then check the closure. Our guide to why magnetic baby clothes can make dressing simpler compares that action with zips, press studs and buttons.
When should you stop using the garment?
Set the piece aside if the fabric around the closure is torn, or if any magnet appears loose, exposed or missing. Keep the garment out of a child’s reach and do not attempt a home repair. Follow the maker’s instructions and the appropriate retailer or manufacturer process for the actual item.
A loose magnet is not part of normal garment use. If swallowing is suspected, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission advises seeking medical attention immediately. Do not wait for symptoms.
What this check does—and does not—tell you
A pre-use check tells you about the garment’s visible condition today. It does not recreate a construction or retention test, certify a product or answer every question about magnetic fields and implanted medical devices.
For that wider context, read our calm guide to magnetic baby-clothing safety. It separates general magnet research, the already verified product-evidence process behind Soso Snaps statements, garment condition and device-specific precautions without turning one finding into a blanket promise.
A small habit that keeps the answer clear
You can make this check part of an ordinary clothing routine: look along the opening when you fold the garment or before the next wear. If it looks as expected, dress and fasten it normally. If it does not, set it aside.
